“Eat City Heights”

Buy cheap produce and support local growers! “Eat City Heights” is a volunteer-run organization that purchases produce from the growers at the City Heights Farmers Market. and distributes the produce at cost to our members in the form of a mixed produce bag. Our mission is to support the local food economy in City Heights. We do this by supporting local growers, which includes farmers from San Diego County, refugee growers at the New Roots Community Farm and Refugee Entrepreneurial Agriculture Program, and certified backyard growers.

Unlike other Community-Supported Agriculture (or CSA) programs, our program does not require a quarterly or even a monthly commitment. We are as flexible as you need, just make your reservation during the week and pick up your bag on the subsequent Saturday. Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), formerly known as food stamps, is a nutrition

assistance program funded by the United States Department of Agriculture. It provides income eligible singles and families with an Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) card to purchase healthy foods for themselves and/or family. Visit www.211sandiego.org or dial 2-1-1.

Summer Food Service Program (SFSP) is sponsored by the United States Department of Agriculture. It is

designed to provide nutritious food during the summer to children, ages 0 -18,  at convenient sites throughout San Diego County. Children can participate by simply showing up at one of the meal sites during the designated meal time. Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) program is a supplemental nutrition program to help low-income

Golden Share Foods (Self-Help and Resource Exchange) provides a monthly basic, consistent, affordable

Farmers’ Markets: The San Diego County Farm Bureau (Farm Bureau) provides an online directory to help residents find nearby farmers’ markets. The website also identifies farmers’ markets that accept the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), the program formerly known as food stamps, via Electronic Benefits Transfer (EBT) cards.  Many farmers’ markets throughout the county also accept Women, Infants and Children (WIC) and Senior Farmers Market Nutrition Program (FMNP) vouchers. WIC and FMNP  provide low-income pregnant women and mothers with children, ages 0-5, and seniors resources for purchasing fresh fruits and vegetables. How do I report identity theft, fraud or misuse of my Social Security number?

To Report identitiy theft, fraud or misuse of my Social Security number, the Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, recommends that you take the following steps:

Step 1: Place a fraud alert on your credit file by contacting one of the three companies:

–          Equifax: 1-800-525-6285

–          Trans Union: 1-00-680-7289

–          Experian: 1-888-397-3742

The company that you contact is required to contact the other two, which will then place an alert on their versions of your report.

Step 2: Review your credit report from inquiries from companies you have not contacted; accounts you did not open; and debts on your accounts that you cannot explain.

Step 3: Close any accounts that you know, or believe, have been tampered with or opened fraudulently

Step 4: File a report with your local police or the police in the community where the identity theft took place.

Step 5: File a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission online or by calling them at 1-877-438-4338 (TTY 1-8666-853-4261)
