VICTORY FOR TAXI DRIVERS!

Over 200 drivers filled the Council chambers to fight for historic taxi reform in the City of San Diego yesterday!! We filled the Public Safety meeting room, the overflow room and the back of the City Council Chamber.

Thank you to all our City of San Diego drivers who came out to support taxi reform today! Especially during Comic Con and for many of our drivers Ramadan. UTWSD drivers have been working tirelessly with our amazing elected champion Marti Emerald and allies at the ERC, Labor Council and CPI to make this happen! The Public Safety committee voted to approve uniform leases like Chicago and anti-retaliation for drivers!

They also voted for vehicle age/mileage restrictions, copies of leases and receipts and at Councilmember Harris’s lead they voted to set up a committee to discuss taxi permits! Thank you to Councilmember Marti Emerald, Ed Harris and Myrtle Cole for all your comments and support!

We’ll keep you updated as reform goes forward! Many thanks go to all our hard working taxi drivers, many who have been with UTWSD since day one! When We Fight, We Win! Solidarity! – UTWSD
